Water Sampling
MTS provides water sampling which is critically important when a chain of custody is required for Government bodies such as Irish Water or HSE.
MTS provide a full suite of testing to accommodate the private sector while also servicing industries such as construction, manufacturing, local authorities, and group water schemes and many other businesses.
Microbiology
In April 2023, MTS gained INAB accreditation under ISO 17025 for microbiological testing in drinking water. The state-of-the-art Microbiological Laboratory is based at our Head Quarters in Carlow and is fully equipped to determine the presence of bacteria in drinking water sources.
The presence of bacteria in water sources can lead to severe illnesses and poor health conditions. The HSE and the EPA advise that private wells are tested at least annually /after flooding /very heavy rainfall, for the presence of E. coli, Coliforms, Clostridium and Enterococci bacteria in order to ensure the water source is safe for consumption.
Irish Water require the testing of these 4 bacteria in any source of drinking water as they can lead to outbreaks of illness.

Chemistry
In February 2024 MTS gained INAB accreditation under ISO 17025 for chemical testing in drinking waters. Chemical parameters give a clear indication of water quality. These may possibly also have an effect on human health.

MTS is also accredited for water sampling under the following standards ISO 5667-5 / ISO 19458/ EPA Quick Guide 2nd Edition. Sampling is critically important when a chain of custody is required for Government bodies such as Irish Water or HSE. Combining our expertise in sampling through to the laboratory testing guarantees the quality of the sample is not directly or indirectly impacted, providing confidence in the results produced.
